Americans Take on Cougars Looking for Third Straight Win

The Americans will wrap up their annual trip to Prince George tonight, looking for their third consecutive victory.

Tonight will be the second in a four game season series between the two teams. After one game, Sam Huo (1 goal, 1 assist) and Connor Bouchard (2 assists) lead scoring for the Americans. Hudson Thornton (1 goal, 1 assist) and Ethan Samson both had multiple points against the Americans.

The two teams opened the weekend doubleheader last night as the Americans held on for a 4-3 victory at the CN Centre.

Tri-City scored four straight to take a 4-0 lead by the midway point of the second period (Huo, Lajoie - PP, Bell, Sloan). Tyler Brennan was relieved in net for the Cougars by Taylor Gauthier after Tri-City's fourth and final goal. Prince George went on to score three straight (Hooker - PP, Singer, Thornton - PP) t0 narrow the gap but weren't able to overcome the Americans.

Nick Avakyan earned his first ever WHL victory in net, stopping 23 of 26 shots faced. The Americans had 36 shots on goal, marking the second straight game they've set a new season high for shots.
