Allen Americans News Release

ALLEN, Texas- In front of 2,400 fans at the Allen Event Center the Allen Americans defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-1. Allen now takes a 1-0 series lead in the series, going into game two which will take place Friday night at the Allen Event Center.

The Americans got things going early and often, starting with a Jonathan Zion goal just 2:40 into play. Zion made a nice deke move at the point, and wristed home a shot over the pad of Bees goaltender Juliano Pagliero to make it 1-0.

Less than two minutes later, Judd Blackwater took a sweet feed from Dave Bonk and buried an opportunity to make it 2-0 Allen. Just 43-seconds later, Blackwater took a pass in the slot from Colton Yellow Horn, and put it past Pagliero to make it 3-0 in favor of Allen.

In the second frame, the Americans were able to extend their lead to 4-0 when Zion potted his second of the night 6:17 in. Zion cruised over the blue line and fired a wrist shot past Pagliero to light the lamp.

The Bees got on the board with a break away goal from Nick Sucharski at 2:12 of the second. Coming out of the box behind the play, Sucharski put the puck five-hole on Allen goaltender Chris Whitley to make it 4-1.

Allen then continued to apply pressure in the third period, securing a 4-1 victory and taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

The Americans and Bees will play game 2 Friday night in Allen. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM, and tickets are still available.
