Allen Takes Game One Over Bees 4-1

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release


ALLEN, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees fell to the Allen Americans 4-1 in the first game of their five game series. Allen scored three goals in the first five minutes of the game to set the pace. Nick Sucharski scored the Bees lone goal, a shorthanded strike in the second period. Juliano Pagliero made 28 saves on 32 shots for the Bees while Chris Whitley made 26 saves for the Americans.

Allen came out firing scoring three goals before the five minute mark could elapse. Jonathan Zion scored the first goal of the game just 2:40 into the first period. Kip Brennan and Liam Huculak picked up the assists.

Judd Blackwater would score the next two goals for Allen at the 4:04 and 4:47 mark. The first goal came while Allen was on the man advantage on a nice feed from Dylan King. Justin DaCosta earned the second assist.

Blackwater struck against just 43 seconds later throwing a shot from the slot towards the net that somehow snuck through traffic to beat Juliano Pagliero. Colton Yellow Horn and Mike Berube had the assists.

The Killer Bees would calm things down for the remainder of the period but were only able to take four shots on net to the 13 the Americans sent towards the Bees twine.

In the second period Allen would increase their lead to four as Jonathon Zion scored his second of the game at 6:17 with a shot that got deflected past Pagliero in the five-hole.

The Bees got on the board at the end of the period as Nick Sucharski scored a shorthanded goal at 17:48. Sucharski was fresh out of the penalty box (the Bees were down by two men) and Campbell made the heads up pass out of the zone that Sucharski picked up on the breakaway beating Chris Whitley blocker-side.

The Bees would out shoot the Americans in the third period by a 12-7 mark but were unable to rally to tie the game as the period we devoid of any scoring.

The Killer Bees face the Allen Americans is game two Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in a game that can be heard on Real Country 102.1-FM KBUC.
