Allen on Top of Final Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll

March 31, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

TEMPE, AZ (March 31, 2011) - The Allen Americans have already claimed the Berry Conference regular season championship and the Bud Poile Governors' Cup (CHL points champs) and now they can add the top team in the final Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll to their resume. Allen held the top spot for the last eight polls and finished the season with a 47-16-3 record.

Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn nine points, etc.

The Americans earned 16 of the first place votes (teams are unable to vote for themselves), while the Rapid City Rush received the other two first place votes. Those two teams battled in the CHL Finals last season with the Rush eventually winning in six games and are the top seeds for their respective conferences in this year's playoffs.

The Rush finished the final poll in the #3 spot while the Colorado Eagles finished in the #2 spot. The Rush and Eagles finished with identical 40-22-4 records with the Rush winning the conference thanks to the tiebreaker of most wins (minus shootout wins).

Rounding out the top five are the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at #4 and the Bloomington PrairieThunder at #5 (the PThunder had one of the largest falls dropping from the #2 spot in the previous poll).

The Texas Brahmas also fell three spots (from #6 to #9) after a tough finish to the regular season winning just two of their final 10 games.

The Odessa Jackalopes finished the season 7-2-1 in their final 10 games which was good enough to crack the top 10. Quad City was the team that fell out of the top 10.
