Prince George Cougars News Release
PRINCE GEORGE BC - 4 unanswered goals from the Tri-City Americans was the difference, as the Prince George Cougars dropped an 8-3 contest to Tri-City on Saturday night at CN Centre.
The Cougars were able to get the game's first goal from a Koehn Zimmer one timer at the left circle, after a great feed from Chase Wheatcroft. The Americans were able to strike with three of their own from Reese Belton, Ethan Ernst, and Jared Sloan, two of which came on the man advantage.
In the second, the Cats were able to score a power-play marker of their own, courtesy of a Hudson Thornton point shot that got tipped in by Ziemmer to make it a one goal game. The Americans answered again, as Dwayne Jean Jr. ripped one through the legs of Madden Mulawka to make it 5-3. 32 seconds after that, Riley Heidt registered a shot from a bad angle, that hit the paddle of Tomas Suchanek and in to make it 4-3 after 40 minutes.
The Americans then scored four unanswered, which put the game out of reach. Adam Mechura, Lukas Dragicevic, Jean Jr, and Ernst were all able to score and make it 8-3 Tri-City. The Americans collect their first victory of the season and split the weekend at CN Centre.
