Allen Americans Battle the Idaho Steelheads

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans look to even their best of seven first round series tonight, when they face the Idaho Steelheads this evening at 7:05 PM at Allen Event Center.
The Americans, who have struggled in Game 1's in past postseason play got off to another slow start on Wednesday night, dropping Game 1 to Idaho by a 3-1 score. Gary Steffes managed the only goal on Wednesday night, as the Americans struggled offensively despite 37 shots on goal.
"We need to put more pressure on in front of their net, "said Americans Co-Captain Gary Steffes. "We didn't do enough to distract Philippe Desrosiers, and that has to change tonight."
The Americans special teams were less than special on Wednesday night, going 0 for 4 on the power play, while Idaho went 1 for 2 with the man advantage.
"We were one of the best teams in the league on both the power play and penalty kill all season, and I expect that to continue in the playoffs," said Americans defenseman David Makowski. "It's hard to judge a team on one game, but we know as a group we have to be better in both areas on Saturday. "
Riley Gill is expected to get the call in goal tonight for Allen. Gill played all four regular season games against Idaho this year and had a record of 2-1-1, including a 4-0 shutout at Allen Event Center.
David Makowski led the Americans in shots on goal in game 1 with seven, while Kyle Jean led the way for Idaho with five total.
