Americans Face Quad City for the First Time this Season

Moline, Illinois - The Allen Americans face the Quad City Mallards for the first time this season, tonight at I Wireless Center in Moline, Illinois, with a 7:05 pm puck drop.

The Americans are tied with the Missouri Mavericks for second place in the Central Hockey League standings, two points behind the first place Rapid City Rush, who beat Denver last night 2-1 in a shootout.

"This is a big week for us, points wise," said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "With both Quad City and Missouri on the schedule, two teams in the thick of the playoff picture, we have a chance to make a strong statement in the standings."

The Americans are 4-1-0 lifetime against the Quad City Mallards, with this being the second ever visit by Allen to the Quad Cities. Former Americans forward Jim McKenzie was on the Mallards roster earlier this season, until he was called up to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League. In 11 games for Iowa, McKenzie has four points and twenty penalty minutes. Corbin Baldwin is also on call-up with the Wild, where in 33 games he has 73 penalty minutes.
