Allen, Texas - The Presidents' Cup Champion, Allen Americans announced their regular season schedule on Friday for the 2013-2014 campaign.
This is the 5th Anniversary of the Americans, celebrating number five as CHL Champions, after defeating the Wichita Thunder in seven games in May, to claim their first Central Hockey League title.
Allen opens the regular season on Saturday, October 19th, on the road against Wichita. Then the home opener the following night, as they raise the banner to the rafters against those same Wichita Thunder on Sunday, October 20th at 4:05 pm.
Other highlighted games on home portion of the schedule, include the early Halloween Party on Wednesday, October 30th, against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 pm. For the 4th year in a row, the Americans are home on December, 31st (New Years Eve), and will face the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 pm. The Americans will once again host a "Kids Day" game, on Monday, January 20th, at 1:05 pm against the Arizona Sundogs. Friday, February 14th, its Valentine's Day against the Missouri Mavericks at 7:05 pm.
The Americans make their first ever trip St. Charles on Friday, October 25th, at 7:05 pm and the first ever trip north of the border to Brampton, Ontario, on Thursday, November 7th, for a three-game set against the Beast. This will be the Americans only trip to Brampton this season. Brampton comes to Allen just once for a two-game set on December 20th and 21st. (Allen to Brampton 1,346 miles)
Holiday Highlights - The Americans will once again be hosting special holiday games that all fans have come to enjoy each season. Those include our New Year's Eve game, Halloween Celebration and our MLK game. Our New Year's Eve Game will commence at 7:05pm in an exciting battle against the Wichita Thunder. This year's Halloween game will take place on October 30th instead of October 31st. The date change will allow for kids and parents to wear their costumes twice! In addition, we will bring back our pregame trick-or-treating on the concourse as well as the popular haunted house. The Martin Luther King Jr. game on Monday January 20th is also "Kid's Day Out."
Themes & Promos - Your Americans are excited to announce some new theme games for the coming season along with some popular returning ones. Those returning would include "Teddy Bear Toss" on November 23rd, "Military Appreciation" on November 1st & February 23rd, Police vs. Fire on February 1st ,"Country Western Night" on November 3rd, "Star Wars Night, Revenge of the Sixth" on December 6th. All Fridays will be "Autograph Series Friday's." Saturdays we are introducing our concert series.
The Americans longest road trip of the season will not come until March, when they play five straight on the road, with stops in Missouri, St. Charles, Rapid City for two games, and then Denver, stretching from March 7th through March 16th.
For the third time in four seasons, the Americans will spend Thanksgiving in Arizona, however they will be home for both Christmas and New Years.
