Allen Americans News Release
Allen Texas- The Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League, proud affiliate of the Lake Erie Monsters and Colorado Avalanche, announced that playoff tickets will go on sale this Thursday, March 15th at 10:00 AM.
The Americans clinched a third straight Central Hockey League playoff berth with a 4-3 win over the Missouri Mavericks last Saturday night. The Americans went all the way to game 6 of the Presidents Cup Finals in 2009-2010 before being eliminated by the Champion Rapid City Rush. The Americans followed that up with the best record in the CHL in 2010-2011, and a trip to the Conference Finals before being eliminated by the eventual CHL Champions Bossier/Shreveport Mudbugs.
"We are thrilled to have clinched a playoff spot for the 2012 post-season, our third consecutive appearance. Our fantastic fan support all season long played a huge role in allowing us to get to where we are now. There's no better feeling than having a jam packed Allen Event Center where the players feed off the fans and the fans feed off the players, it's awesome! I think our players and our fans will agree that our focus now is to build upon what we already have, finish the regular season strong and get prepared for what we hope will be a long playoff run. Let's give our team the best home ice advantage in the league for the 2012 playoffs. With that in mind, tickets for all first round home playoff games will go on-sale starting Thursday at 10am". Mike Martin Vice President of Sales and Service.
Allen can finish no worse than third overall in the Berry Conference with a three point lead over the third place Texas Brahmas. If the playoffs were to start today Allen would host Texas in game one of the first round of the playoffs in a best of seven series. This would mark the first time the two teams have met in postseason play. It would also mark the first time former Brahmas Captain Jason Deitsch, faced his former team in the postseason. Deitsch was the MVP of the finals when Texas Beat Colorado to win the CHL Presidents Cup Championship in 2008-2009.
The Allen Americans also announced their 2012 playoff slogan on Wednesday, "Come Together" which was voted on by the Allen Americans front office staff, and Hockey Operations.
"The slogan is a culmination of several elements that have made the 2011-2012 season one to remember," said Allen Americans President Matt Canavan. "I have echoed this sentiment a lot this season in that Coach Mullins and Coach McDonald need to be commended more this year than the others, taking into consideration 207 man games lost to injury (first in league) and 113 man games lost to call ups (tops in the league). We have established our franchise in 2 1/2 short seasons as the premiere team in Central Hockey League for player development and opportunity. The time has come for the call ups to slow, the time has come for the roster to solidify, the time has come for the Allen Americans Players and staff, fans and community to Come Together for the 2012 President's Cup journey.
The Americans are home for two big games against their Metroplex rivals the Texas Brahmas on Friday, March 16th and Saturday, March 17th at 7:05 at Allen Event Center. The Americans will travel to NYTEX Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon for a 4:05 PM puck drop.
