
Lee Is Crowned as New Goal Scoring King, Bees Win 4-2

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- Aaron Lee scored twice as became the Killer Bees all-time leading goal scorer as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (29-26-7) defeated the Bloomington Blaze (23-30-7) by a 4-2 final on Wednesday night. Lee scored twice and John Murray made a season high 53 saves for the win.
The Killer Bees power-play was productive in the first period going 2-for-4. While on a 4-on-3 advantage Craig Lineker worked the puck to inside the faceoff circle then fed it across to Brandon Campos who one-timed it past Blaze goalie Zane Kalemba.
Aaron Lee would score his historic strike just minutes later, also on the power-play. Nicolas Rioux earned the assist on Aaron Lee's 91st goal as a member of the Bees. The 91 goals scored by Lee set a new franchise mark previously held by Bill Newson who scored 90 goals from 2003 to 2007.
Despite being outshot 21-10 in the second period the Bees would keep the Blaze off the scoreboard and maintain the 2-0 advantage into the locker room.
Bloomington would come out strong in the third period and scored two goals to tie the game at two before Aaron Lee struck once again to give the Bees the lead back by a 3-2 marker. Brady Leavold earned the assist on Lee's goal at 13:45 of the third period.
Tomas Klempa added to the Bees goals totals at the 16:11 mark of the third as he ripped a shot from the near side circle to the far side post. Brandon Campos and Dan Gendur each earned the second points of the evening.
John Murray and the Bees would keep the Blaze off the board for the remainder of the game for the 4-2 victory.
