Americans add Dallas Stars bloodline Jordie Benn to roster

Allen Americans News Release
ALLEN, Texas - The Allen Americans, the Dallas Stars' CHL affiliate, announced the addition of defenseman Jordie Benn to their training camp roster today.
Benn was released from the Texas Stars yesterday after making a strong push for a roster spot with the Dallas Stars' American Hockey League affiliate.
Benn's brother, Jamie, played for the Dallas Stars last year and has secured a spot on the roster for the 2009-10 season.
Benn, 22, will bring his strong skating and puck handling skills to the Americans' blue line. The six-foot Canadian weighs 180 pounds and played for the Victoria Salmon Kings last season. He had 12 points and 26 penalty minutes in 55 regular season games.
The addition of Benn pushes the number of players on the Americans' roster that attended higher-level camps to 12, breaking the CHL record set previously by the club earlier in the week.
The players are set to start camp Monday, Oct. 5. Media wishing to attend should contact Lindsey Perkins at 972.912.1000 or lindsey@allenamericans.com in advance.
