Grand Prairie 9, Ft. Worth 8 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)
The first game of a doubleheader between the AirHogs and Cats proved to be a wild affair that included a flurry of early runs and a late rally that fell just short. In the end Grand Prairie came away victorious by a count of 9-8. In the top of the first inning SS David Espinosa homered for the seventh time this season to give Grand Prairie a quick 2-0 lead. The Airhogs added another to make it 3-0 before Ft. Worth answered with RBI singles from CF Brian Fryer and 1B John Allen to tie the game 3-3. After Grand Prairie score two unearned runs in the ninth to push their lead to 9-3, the Cats scored five times and had the tying run at second with one out. Grand Prairie's Geivy Garcia ended the threat by retiring the final two batters.
Grand Prairie 8, Ft. Worth 3 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
In game two Grand Prairie fell behind 3-0 after one inning, but scored eight unanswered runs to claim an 8-3 win. AirHogs 2B Antoin Gray continued his power surge with his third homerun in the last five games. He finished 2-for-3 with four RBI. CF Aaron Garza scored twice and drove in a run as part of a 2-for-3 effort. Marcus Salmon improved his overall record to 2-1 on the year as he pitched two innings of hitless ball for the victory.
Sioux City 8, Sioux Falls 4
Sioux City got a solid outing from starter Ty Marotz and a big night at the plate from DH Jacob Cruz as they doubled up Sioux Falls 8-4. Marotz tossed six innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits while striking out six. He improved to 6-6 with the win. Cruz doubled and drove in two as part of a 3-for-4 performance. Four other hitters had multi-hit games for the Explorers. RF Hunter Jobes powered the Sioux Falls offense with a three-run homer in the third inning, his sixth long ball of the season. Sioux Falls starter Ben Moore allowed four earned runs on 12 hits and matched Marotz's six K's, but fell to 10-8 with the loss.
Shreveport-Bossier 8, Pensacola 2
Captains starter Richard Salazar worked out of trouble all night and Shreveport-Bossier got contributions from throughout their lineup as they defeated Pensacola 8-2. Salazar surrendered eight hits but just one earned run in six innings to get the win and improve his record to 9-4. Captains 2B Jorge Alvarez went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish with two RBI and two runs scored. LF Robert Perry added three hits in five trips to the plate. The Pelicans left 11 men on base in the contest.
Lincoln 10, St. Paul 8
The Saltdogs scored six big runs in the sixth inning to top St. Paul by a score of 10-8. 1B Juan Camacho doubled and drove in three runs as part of a 4-for-5 night. Saltdogs DH Phil Hawke went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two base on balls. Lincoln closer Chris Thompson struckout two in the ninth for his 19th save. St. Paul starter Jacob Schmidt fanned nine batters but allowed six earned runs on 12 hits in 5.1 innings. He fell to 8-7 with the loss.
Wichita 5, El Paso 5 (In Progress - Bottom 9)
