Published on May 29, 2011 under American Association (AA) News Release

Wichita 7, Lincoln 1

Ryan Patterson and Jorge Cortes notched back-to-back home runs in the top of the ninth to lead the Wingnuts to a 7-1 victory against Lincoln. Wichita and Lincoln both scored a run in the first inning, and the teams remained tied until catcher Edwin Bellorin drove in another run for Wichita in the top of the sixth inning. The Wingnuts' five-run ninth inning sealed the deal for Wichita, which was led by short stop Josh Horn's two runs, two hits and one RBI. Blake Gailen registered three hits in four at-bats for Lincoln. Pitcher Nate Singleton earned his fifth win of the season, allowing five hits, one run and striking out eight in eight innings pitched.

Grand Prairie 3, Shreveport-Bossier 1

Grand Prairie's two runs in the first inning were enough to fuel the AirHogs to a 3-1 win against Shreveport-Bossier. The Captains scored their one and only run in the top of the sixth inning when Alex Cowart hit a home run. Just for good measure, Grand Prairie tallied one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning when short stop Jake Taylor drove in designated hitter John Alonso. No Captain had multiple hits. The AirHogs were led by third baseman Cesar Nicolas, who had three hits in three at-bats and one run. Winning pitcher Greg Smith allowed just two hits, one run and struck out three in sixth innings pitched.

St. Paul 8, Kansas City 6

Right fielder Brandon Tripp's three hits in five at-bats, two runs and two RBI helped St. Paul topple Kansas City 8-6. The Saints opened with a three-run first inning, forcing the T-Bones to play catch-up all game long. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Kansas City tied the score 6-6 when right fielder Ray Sadler hit a home run. But St. Paul responded in the top of the seventh with two of their own to win the game. Sadler led the T-Bones with two hits in four at-bats, one run and three RBI. Winning pitcher Alberto Rolon, now 2-0, allowed just one hit and no runs in three innings pitched.
