Sioux City 12, Fargo-Moorhead 3
All nine Sioux City batters had at least one hit as the Explorers dispatched of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks by a score of 12-3. Explorers 3B Wally Backman went 4-for-6 including a solo homerun in the sixth inning, finishing the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Center fielder Dustin Jones had two doubles and collected three RBIs, going 4-for-5 from the plate. Explorers starting pitcher Ryan surrendered just two runs on seven hits in six innings pitched, striking out six batters and earning the win. For the RedHawks, 2B Carlo Cota went 2-for-3 from the plate with two RBIs in a losing effort.
Lincoln 5, Wichita 2
Five Lincoln batters each picked up one RBI, as the Saltdogs defeated the Wichita Wingnuts by a score of 5-2. Lincoln 3B Curt Smith belted a solo homerun and RF Maikel Jova hit an RBI double in the Saltdogs' decisive four-run bottom of the fourth. Designated hitter Jon Nelson and C Robby Alcombrack each had an RBI double to complete the scoring in the bottom of the fourth. Starting pitcher Tim Brown earned the win, striking out three hitters and not allowing an earned run in six and two-thirds innings pitched. For Wichita, RF Jorge Cortes collected two RBIs on the night.
Grand Prairie 5, Shreveport-Bossier 3
The Grand Prairie AirHogs showed patience at the plate in the first inning, drawing two consecutive walks with the bases loaded to take an early 3-0 lead as they held off Shreveport-Bossier for a 5-3 win. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the first, Captains starting pitcher Aaron Cunningham walked AirHogs DH John Alonso and RF Tyler Henley back-to-back to give Grand Prairie an early 2-0 lead. AirHogs SS Jake Taylor capped off the three-run first inning with an RBI sacrifice fly. Left fielder David Thomas went 2-for-3 from the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Captains 1B Andres Rodriquez had two hits in four at-bats and collected two RBIs for Shreveport-Bossier in the loss.
Sioux Falls 6, Fort Worth 3
Sioux Falls plated five runs on four hits in the top of the first which carried them to a 6-3 win against the Fort Worth Cats. Five different Pheasants doubled in the game. Sioux Falls SS Joe Anthonsen went 3-for-5 from the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Center fielder Reggie Abercrombie and RF Gus Milner each went 2-for-4 from the plate with an RBI and a run scored for Sioux Falls. Starting pitcher Ben Moore struck out eight Fort Worth batters and only allowed two runs on three hits in seven and two-thirds innings pitched. Fort Worth DH Marcos Rodriguez and 2B Derek Kinzler each collected an RBI in a losing effort.
St. Paul 10, Kansas City 4
St. Paul dominated the middle innings, scoring four in the third inning and five in the sixth, as the Saints beat the Kansas City T-Bones 10-4. St. Paul SS Adam Frost hit an RBI triple in the top of the third and belted a solo homerun in the top of the fourth, finishing the game with two RBIs and three runs scored. Second baseman Justin Snyder went 3-for-5 from the plate, collecting two RBIs and scoring twice. Saints RF Brandon Tripp had three hits in five at-bats and two RBIs. For the T-Bones, CF Keanon Simon went 2-for-2 from the plate with a double and an RBI in the loss.
Winnipeg 7, Gary SouthShore 6 (13 Innings)
Winnipeg LF Brian Myrow hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the thirteenth inning as the Goldeyes outlasted the Gary SouthShore RailCats 7-6 in a thirteen-inning affair. Winnipeg 2B Price Kendall had three hits in six at-bats, collected an RBI and scored the winning run. Goldeyes DH Alan Rick had two RBIs and a run scored. RailCats LF Adam Klein had three hits in five at-bats and an RBI and 1B Mike Rohde had two RBIs as well. Despite giving up two earned runs in the twelfth inning, Goldeyes pitcher Zach Baldwin worked a scoreless top of the thirteenth and earned the win.
Amarillo 14, El Paso 2 (Bottom 9th)
Amarillo leads El Paso 14-2 in the bottom of the ninth. This game is still in progress.
