Sioux Falls 8, St. Paul 0
The Sioux Falls Pheasants shut out the St. Paul Saints 8-0 at Midway Stadium with the help of a strong start from P Mark Michael. Michael threw seven scoreless innings and allowed just three hits while striking out five batters. SS Cory Morales had a huge day at the plate going 4-for-6 with three RBI and a run. 1B Cesar Nicolas also had three RBI for the Pheasants while going 2-for-5. Pheasant 2B Joe Anthonsen was also solid offensively drawing three walks while going 2-for-2 and scoring twice. For St. Paul, CF Jim Rapoport had half of the team's hits going 2-for-4.
Grand Prairie 14, New Jersey 4
The Grand Prairie AirHogs started off strong and didn't look back as they took an inter-league affair from New Jersey 14-4. The AirHogs scored before even registering an out in the top of the first when CF Keanon Simon scored on a double by 2B Bryan Frichter after reaching on a lead-off single. Simon finished the game with a team-high three RBI and three hits in six at bats. After tacking on two more in the second the AirHogs opened up the game in the third with six runs. All of New Jersey's runs came on home runs as LF Angel Berroa, 3B Nick Giarraputo and C Jeff Lanning each left the yard. P John Brownell earned the win for a complete game performance.
Fargo-Moorhead 16, Winnipeg 7
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks used a seven-run third inning to springboard on to a 16-7 victory against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. The RedHawks chased P Chris Zbin in the third inning and went on to destroy the Winnipeg bullpen. Eight different Goldeyes pitched Sunday and three of them game up five earned runs. RedHawk CF Nic Jackson had a game-high five RBI on a 2-for-5 night with a double and his third home run of the year. 3B Ryan Stovall was also dangerous at the plate, bringing home three runs and scoring three times on three hits in five at bats. Winnipeg rallied in the fourth and scored four runs but the RedHawks closed the door in the fifth with a five-spot. P Aaron Shafer earned the win despite giving up six earned runs over 6.1 innings.
Lincoln 6, Gary SouthShore 5
Lincoln Saltdog lead-off man SS Joe Spiers lead the way with a four-hit game to help Lincoln edge the Gary SouthShore RailCats 6-5. Spiers went 4-for-5, had a double and a homerun and brought home two RBI. RF Stephen Holdren also had two RBI including a sacrifice fly in the first inning that gave Lincoln the early lead. The RailCat DH Mike Massaro had an unbelievable day at the plate tying the league record for most triples in a game with three of them. Massaro was 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice. The win went to Wade Mackey for his 5.2 inning start in which he allowed four earned runs on eight hits.
