Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., June 30, 2006) - The Long Island Ducks, members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, today announced that the contract of outfielder Dominick Ambrosini has been purchased by the Florida Marlins organization. The Ronkonkoma native is the second native Long Islander (Steve Falteisek, 2001, 2002) to sign with an organization after playing on Long Island and is the fourth Duck to return to affiliated ball this season. He will report to the Marlins High-A affiliate in Jupiter, Fla.
"We are very proud of Dominick," says Ducks general manager Michael Hirsch. "Over the past two seasons he excelled in front of his hometown crowd. We wish him the best of luck in Jupiter."
In his two seasons with the Ducks, the hard hitting outfielder batted .301 with 20 home runs, 26 doubles, seven triples and 89 RBI. The 2005 Atlantic League All-Star heads to the Hammerheads after ranking second in the league with a .329 average and a .553 SLG.
The Long Island Ducks are in their seventh season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. They have averaged over 100 percent attendance capacity of 6,002-seat Citibank Park in each of their first six seasons and are one of the most successful minor league sports franchises in the country.
