Amazing Comeback Win for the Generals

The Oshawa Generals fought hard tonight in a game against the Kitchener Rangers in an east-west matchup on home ice at the General Motors Centre. Tonight, the Generals put up two more points after a huge comeback win over the Rangers.

The Generals came into tonight's game sitting in first place in the Eastern Conference after having a great start to the season. The Rangers were coming off a 4-1 win over the London Knights on Friday night and were sitting at fifth place in the Western Conference with four points this season.

The first period was evenly matched despite the Rangers dominating shots on goal 11-7. Smith and Pedersen dropped the gloves at 9:35 of the first. Pedersen at 6'2" put up a good fight against the 6'6" Smith and even managed to get Smith's helmet off. After an extended tussle between the two, both were sent to the penalty box for five minutes each for fighting. Ryan MacInnis of the Rangers opened the scoring, giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead over the Generals. The rest of period remained goalless and the Generals ended the second period on a power play as a result of an interference penalty for Iaftate.

With the Generals on a power play, Cole Cassels put one past Rangers goalie, Matthew Greenfield, evening the score at one a piece. The goal came assisted by Lindberg and Dal Colle. After a mess of penalty calls, Adam Mascherin scored to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead. The goal marked Mascherin's first ever OHL goal. Mascherin quickly scored his second ever OHL goal, giving the Rangers a 3-1 lead. The period ended with the Generals trailing the Rangers 3-1.

The third period was instrumental for the team and proved to be a huge comeback period. Within the first two minutes of the period, the Generals tied the score up. Chris Carlisle was awarded a penalty shot and put a beautiful goal past Greenfield. The crowd and team were fired up and the Generals quickly scored another goal on their power play. Michael Dal Colle who made his return to Oshawa tonight evened up the score with a goal assisted from Tobias Lindberg and Cole Cassels.

With the game tied at 3-3, it seemed like things were bound to head into overtime. With only 35 seconds left in the period, Chris Carlisle scored his second goal of the night, securing the win for the Generals. The crowd were absolutely lit up following the final goal of the game left tonight's game knowing that the Generals fought hard to secure the win. Kenny Appleby had another fantastic game, stopping 39 of the 42 shots made by the Rangers. Tonight's game demonstrated the fight and skill that this year's team has. Look forward to many more exciting games this season. The final score tonight was 4-3, marking the third consecutive win for the Generals. Shots on goal were 42-21 for the Rangers.

Tonight's first star went to Cole Cassels, second star went to Tobias Lindberg, and third star was awarded to Adam Mascherin. Notably, Chris Carlisle played an outstanding game, continuing his hot streak this season, now with six points in five games played.
