Alouettes Sign Jerald Brown

Montreal, Jan. 24, 2011 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp announced today that veteran defensive back Jerald Brown signed a new three-year contract with the team. Brown was set to become a free agent this February.

"Jerald Brown came into the CFL and to the Alouettes two years ago and instantly caught everyone's attention. He is an all-round player that can play any coverage and has no fear. He brings a tremendous physical presence on the field, especially in run support. Since his arrival, Jerald has fit right into the Alouettes' organization on the field and in the locker room. His play has allowed us to make other key moves on our defence over the last two seasons," said Popp.

Brown (5'11'', 185 lbs), was named a 2010 East Division All-Star for the first time in his career after tying for third in the CFL with five interceptions. He also finished tied for second on the Alouettes with four tackles for a loss, third with 57 defensive tackles and tied for fourth with five knockdowns. He was named the Alouettes' Most Outstanding Rookie in 2009 after playing five seasons in the AFL. He is 30.
