Montreal - The Montreal Alouettes have acquired the first overall pick in the 2022 CFL Canadian Draft, which will take place at 8 p.m. tonight (TSN and RDS). The Alouettes have also obtained the ninth pick overall, which means that the club will have two picks in the first round.

In exchange of the first overall pick, the Alouettes traded their first round pick (4th overall), as well as the rights to National offensive lineman Carter O'Donnell to the Edmonton Elks. The latter was selected in the third round (22nd overall) in 2020, and currently plays for the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL.

In order to receive the ninth overall pick, and the 18th overall pick, the Alouettes sent their second round pick (13th overall), as well as National defensive lineman Cameron Lawson to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

"We are extremely happy to have moved up for tonight's draft. We will select a high-quality player, without having to pay the big price," said Alouettes General Manager Danny Maciocia. "All of our scouts and coaches were ecstatic when were able to make these transactions."

The Alouettes hold the following picks for tonight's draft:

1 (9)

2 (18)
