Allen Defeats Texas for 9th Time in 11 Meetings

ALLEN, Texas- The Allen Americans roughed up the Texas Brahmas in every facet of the game Tuesday night, collecting a 5-2 win in front of 3,999 fans at the Allen Event Center.

Nino Musitelli got things started with his 32nd goal of the season mid-way through the first frame. Americans Goaltender Chris Whitley would make 10 saves in the first period to keep the Brahmas at bay.

In the second period the Americans exploded for 4 goals, starting with a Colton Yellow Horn goal less than a minute in. Yellow Horn scored his 32nd goal of the season on an outstanding feed from Dave Bonk.

Yellow Horn then returned the favor, feeding Bonk for a one-timer at 7:45 to give the Americans a 3-0 lead. Musitelli added his second goal of the night at 10:13 knocking a puck out of the air and batting it by Brahmas Goaltender Wayne Savage high to the glove side, making it 4-0 in favor of the home side.

Jarret Lukin buried a rebound chance at 12:17 of the second period to give Allen a commanding 5-0 lead.

Texas' Chad Woollard scored with just 10 seconds left in the second to make it a 5-1 game.

In the third period, Whitley made 11 saves, with Greg Hogeboom shot on a 5-on-3 advantage as the only blemish on his record.

Allen moves to 45-16-2 on the season, while Whitley collected his 24th victory of the season.

The Americans will travel to Mississippi Friday night, before returning home to face the RiverKings again on Saturday night. The game will mark Fan Appreciation Night at the Allen Event Center, as well as the final regular season home game of the 2010-11 season. Prior to the game there will be a brief ceremony to present the Americans with the Governors' Cup as having the best record in the CHL for the regular season. The first 1,000 kids in attendance will receive HOP Silly Bandz courtesy of Cinemark.
