Albuquerque's Will Conroy Named D-League Performer Of The Week

NEW YORK, March 23, 2009 - Will Conroy of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds was today named NBA D-League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of March 16, 2009. Conroy becomes the first player to earn the honor twice during the 2008-09 season and is also the all-time leader with a total of four Performer of the Week nods.

Conroy led the Thunderbirds to a 2-1 record this week, averaging nearly a triple-double with 25.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 12.7 assists while setting a new season high with 18 assists in Friday's loss to Rio Grande Valley. His scoring high from the week came on Saturday when he netted 29 points in a win over Erie.

A 6-2 guard from the University of Washington, Conroy is leading the NBA D-League with 26.1 points per game while ranking fifth in assists (8.0/game). During his career, Conroy has played in two NBA D-League All-Star games and has earned three GATORADE Call-Ups to the NBA during the 2006-07 season.

Other top performers last week included Anaheim's Cedric Bozeman, who averaged 26.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in four games for the Arsenal; Erie's Erik Daniels, who averaged 20.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists in three games for the BayHawks; Austin's DeMarcus Nelson, who averaged 28.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in three games for the Toros; Iowa's Courtney Sims, who tied his season-high with 36 points on Tuesday while averaging 25.3 points and 10.3 rebounds in three games for the Energy; and Rio Grande Valley's Jawad Williams, who scored 28 points in two consecutive Vipers victories, connecting on nine three-pointers in 18 attempts.
