
Albuquerque acquires Mason, waives Toppert

GREENVILLE, S.C., February 1 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds have acquired guard Brandon Mason from the NBA Development League available player pool and waived guard Cody Toppert.
After completing his career at New Mexico State, Mason played in Ireland for the Horans Healthstores Tigers where he averaged 24.7 points 8.3 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 3.1 steals per game. He was named as the All-Irish SuperLeague Newcomer of the Year in 2004 and was also an All-Irish SuperLeague First Team selection. He also played for the Chicago Soldiers and the Gallop Talons of the ABA. In his last season at New Mexico State, Mason averaged 11.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
Toppert played in 16 games (two starts) for the Thunderbirds, averaging 14.3 minutes, 3.7 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
