Albany Assigns Five to Camp, Blades Invite Four to Tryout

ESTERO, FL - The Albany River Rats announced today that the following players have been assigned to the Florida Everblades for the 2009-10 season. Goaltender Mike Morrison, defensemen Elgin Reid, forwards Milan Gajic, Rob Hennigar and Jacob Micflikier.

Morrison, is most notably known for appearing in 21 games with the Edmonton Oilers (NHL) during the 2005-06 season, posting 10 wins with a 2.88 goals against average. Reid appeared in 49 games last season with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) totaling 13 goals, 21 assists for 49 points along with 57 penalty minutes. Gajic is returning to the Everblades after playing in 18 games last year scoring nine goals, 16 assists for a total of 25 points.

Micflikier appeared in 10 games for the Everblades last season totaling 10 markers, 14 helpers and 24 points to go along with 21 penalty minutes. He saw the majority of his action with the Rochester Americans (AHL) appearing in 39 contests. While on Rochester, he managed four goals, 12 assists and 16 points adding 12 penalty minutes.

Hennigar split the past season with the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) and Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL). During his stay with Utah, he appeared in 38 games, chipping in 15 goals, 44 helpers totaling 59 points also adding 40 penalty minutes. During his 34-game stay with Bridgeport he scored three goals, 10 assists for 13 points also adding 18 penalty minutes. He also appeared in four playoff games registering a goal.

Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron also announced today that forward Richard Rochefort, defensemen Anthony Aiello and Frank Grzeszczak and goaltender Nate Zervos have been invited to the 2009-10 training camp.

Rochefort most recently spent the prior two seasons in Japan with the Seibu Prince Rabbits one of the most successful teams in Asia. Aiello, a 2005 draft pick of the Minnesota Wild spent the last four seasons with the Boston College Eagles. He was a member of the 2008 Boston College National Championship team. Grzeszczak is a native Floridian who split the past season with Rimouski and Montreal of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He totaled 40 games between the two clubs scoring one goal, nine assists for 10 points while adding 16 penalty minutes. Zervos has served as the Everblades emergency back-up goaltender in seasons past.
