
Akron Aeros roster move

The Cleveland Indians announced today that RHP Fausto Carmona's option has been transferred to Akron from Class A Lake County and RHP Jeanmar Gomez has been transferred to Class A Mahoning Valley's roster.
Carmona began the 2009 season in the Indians rotation going 2-6 with a 7.42 ERA in 12 starts. He had his finest season in the Major Leagues in 2007 when he finished 4th in American League Cy Young Award voting. That season he was 19-8 while ranking second in the league with a 3.06 ERA in 32 starts. The Indians optioned Carmona to the Arizona Fall League June 5th, and he previously made one start for the Captains June 25th. The 26-year-old Dominican native delivered 6.1 scoreless innings and allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out seven batters. In 31 career starts for Akron he is 11-13 with a 4.44 ERA and 125 strikeouts against only 41 walks in 188.2 innings.
Carmona will be wearing #53 and will start tonight at Prince George's Stadium against the Bowie Baysox starting at 7:05 p.m. He is expected to Media Relations Coordinator Rob Sinclair will be at tonight's game, and all immediate requests for updates and/or quotes can be made to him.
