Texas AirHogs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kansas - The AirHogs exploded for 18 hits and 9 runs Saturday in Kansas City, upending the T-Bones by a final of 9-3. RF Kenny Peoples-Walls racked up 4 hits and 3 RBI on his own to lead the way.

After a brief rain delay paused the game in the first, the AirHogs came out ready in the second. Devon Rodriguez took a one-out, one-strike offering from T-Bones starter Johnny Shuttlesworth to right for a double and came in later in the frame on an RBI base hit from Brian Bistagne.

The AirHogs then loaded the bases in the 4th, setting up Peoples-Walls, who blasted a 3-RBI triple to center to expand the lead to 4-0. The team would tack on one more on an infield single by Juan Sanchez to score Peoples-Walls, giving starter Ethan Carnes a 5-run cushion.

That would be more than enough for the lefty from Tomball. Carnes spun 5 1/3 innings of 1-run ball, striking out 4 to get the first win of the year for the team.

Every spot in the order racked up a hit for the AirHogs, and they got particularly good production from the bottom of the lineup. Rodriguez, KJ Alexander, Cody Lenahan, Bistagne, and Peoples-Walls, the bottom 5 in the order, combined for 12 hits, 6 RBI, and 9 runs scored.

Michael Hur reached base 4 times for the second straight game. The center fielder finished 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and a walk.

The team will look for the series split tomorrow at 1:05 in Kansas City. RHP Palmer Betts is expected to start for the AirHogs.

The team opens its regular season home schedule in Grand Prairie May 23rd vs. Fargo.
