KANSAS CITY, Kansas - The AirHogs earned a split in Kansas City Sunday, drawing level in their regular-season opener series by upending the T-Bones by a final of 6-3. CF Michael Hur continued his hot swinging, racking up 3 hits, including his 2nd home run, and 3 RBI.

Hur's blast came in the third and capped an explosive frame that built a lead for starter Palmer Betts. 2B Brian Bistagne started the inning with a hit-by-pitch out of the hand of KC starter Jeremy Strawn. He would move to second on a wild pitch and score on the 3rd extra base hit in the last 2 games for RF Kenny Peoples-Walls. His double to left center made it 1-0. Hur followed with a 2-run screamer over the left field wall to build the lead to 3.

Betts ran into some trouble early, but made pitches in tight situations. He stranded 2 in the 1st and induced a double play to end the 2nd before surrendering his first run in the bottom of the 3rd.

In the 6th, Betts allowed the first 3 to reach, a stretch capped by a double to left by 3B Brandon Tierney. Tyler Massey scored on the extra-base hit, but a strong relay by LF Burt Reynolds, 3B Cody Lenahan, and C Michael Miller would catch Steve Swingle at the plate. AirHogs relief man Ryan Atwood entered, and the T-Bones brought in Tierney on a double by 2B Brett Wiley. But with the help of 2 great diving catches by Lenahan, Atwood would allow them no closer than 4-3.

The AirHogs loaded the bases in the 9th with 1 out still leading 4-3. Peoples-Walls bounced into a fielder's choice to score Devon Rodriguez, and then Hur tore it open. His 2-RBI single to right scored Miller and Bistagne and gave the AirHogs their final margin of 6-3.

Betts got the win, Strawn took the loss, and relief man Alan Oaks, who pitched a perfect 9th, picked up the save. AirHogs pitching helped the T-Bones strand 11 on base.

The AirHogs (2-2) open their home schedule tomorrow in Grand Prairie. First pitch is slated for 7:00 pm. RHP Sam Martin is expected to make his first start of the season.
