GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Texas AirHogs played another one-run game Monday at AirHogs Stadium. A day after defeating Fargo 1-0, the team dropped its series opener vs. Winnipeg 3-2. All five of the game's runs were scored in the first 1.5 innings.
Gan Quan (0-1) got the start for the AirHogs and allowed one run in the top of the first. The AirHogs struck back with RBIs from designated hitter Meng Weiqiang and right fielder Stewart Ijames to take a 2-1 lead after one complete.
Winnipeg regained the lead in the top of the second on a two-RBI single from right fielder Victor Cruzado. After leaving the bases full in the first, Gan Quan induced a key double play off the bat of Winnipeg center fielder Reggie Abercrombie to limit the damage in the second.
Gan Quan would finish the game with 5.1 innings pitched. The AirHogs starter scattered seven hits while striking out six. His counterpart Shane Dawson (1-0) lasted 6.2 innings, allowing six hits, two runs (two earned) and one walk. He struck out seven.
