Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads are pleased to announce the commitment of the team's fourth round pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, Aidan McFarland, to an OHL Standard Player Agreement with the organization.

McFarland comes to the Steelheads from the Empire B Junior C Hockey League's Napanee Raiders of the Ontario Hockey Association, where he recorded 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) in 12 games so far this season.

Prior to joining the Raiders, the Quinte West, Ontario native was a member of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association's Quinte Red Devils. During the 2014-15 season, Aidan averaged a point and a half per game totaling 31 goals and 25 assists in the 36 game season.

McFarland's Red Devils took part in the 2015 OHL Cup and he led his squad with six points (five goals, one assist) in five games. He was one of two players on his team to score more than once, and his five goals tied him for second in the tournament.

Steelheads General Manager and Head Coach, James Boyd is excited to welcome McFarland adding, "Aidan is a player who plays a heavy game and excels in the corners and net front. He is off to a great start with his hometown Napanee Raiders. We are excited that Aidan will experience his first taste of OHL action tonight."

The Steelheads would like to welcome Aidan and the McFarland family to the organization. McFarland will be in the line up Thursday as the Steelheads travel to St. Catharines, Ontario to take on their division rivals, the Niagara IceDogs.
