AHL's Penguins Assign RW Walsh to Boardwalk Bullies; Bullies Sign Goaltender

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League assigned right wing Brendan Walsh to the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the East Coast Hockey League. The Bullies also signed goaltender Ryan Kiernan, it was announced today by Bullies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Michael Haviland. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Walsh, the Dorchester, Mass., native, split last season with the AHL's Penguins and the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL. In 29 games with the Pens, Walsh tallied four points (2G,2A) and registered 184 penalty minutes. In 29 games with the Nailers, the 5-9, 185-pound forward recorded 22 points (7G,15A) and 168 penalty minutes.

"Walsh adds some toughness to our lineup," commented Haviland. "He has the ability to play and stay in the thick of things as games progress."

Last season, Kiernan, a Bricktown, N.J., native, earned a .908 save percentage and and a 3.40 goals against average in 28 games for Massachusetts College (NCAA).

Walsh and Kiernan each will make his Bullies' debut tomorrow when Atlantic City faces off against the Roanoke Express at 7:05 p.m. at Boardwalk Hall.

Today the Bullies traded forward Mike Scott to the Mississippi Sea Wolves in exchange for cash.
