Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK - The Norfolk Admirals are proud to support Prevent Child Abuse Hampton Roads (PCAHR) at the organization's 31st Annual Celebrity Night. Members of the team will participate as celebrity servers at the event, which takes place on April 4th at Dockside Restaurant on Shore Drive in Virginia Beach.
For more than 30 years, popular restaurants throughout the Hampton Roads area have offered their restaurants and donated proceeds to the PCAHR organization. Admirals Vice President Joe Gregory was keen to support PCAHR.
"We have some stellar, community-minded team members on the Admirals who are eager to help out in any way they can," said Gregory. "This will be a great opportunity to stand up against any form of child abuse and support a very worthy community cause."
Dockside owner Kevin Seldon says, "We just want to see a successful event for a very worthy cause. We are delighted to host the Admirals and hope new and old patrons will show up to support the Prevent Child Abuse cause with us."
The event itself takes place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4th. The Admirals will be servers at the event that evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
PCAHR is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization of concerned citizens committed to the prevention of child abuse in all its forms. PCAHR works with community, state, and national groups to expand and disseminate knowledge about child abuse prevention and translates that knowledge into action through the development of sound family-oriented policies and community-based prevention programs.
"Child abuse has recently been associated with sports figures for all the wrong reasons," said PCAHR Executive Director, Bessie Marie Renner. "We are delighted to have the Admirals on board as a positive face to the community."
In addition to Dockside, Celebrity Night will continue its 30-year tradition with a roster of local restaurants including Route 58 Deli, JageR's Beach Bar&Grill, Il Giardino's, Baker's Crust, Azalea Inn, 456 Fish, 219 Bistro, Cedar Point Country Club, Salsa's Mexican Grill and Roger Brown's. Each restaurant will have community celebrities assisting them and organizers urge supporters to call each restaurant for details and reservations.
PCAHR addresses physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and emotional maltreatment through programs, education, and advocacy. Information about Celebrity Night and PCAHR can be found at www.ucantbeatkids.org or Prevent Child Abuse Hampton Roads on Facebook.
Nestled on the water at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, at 3311 Shore Drive, in Virginia Beach, Dockside Restaurant and Seafood Market can be reached at 757-481-4545 for information and reservations.
