LAST WEEK'S RESULTS

Wednesday, March 13: Penguins 1, SHARKS 5

The Worcester Sharks went 4-for-8 on the man-advantage against the Penguins' top-rated penalty kill and skated to a 5-1 triumph at DCU Center.

A scoreless first period gave way to a second frame in which Worcester's power play struck twice, starting with Marek Viedensky's goal just 19 seconds after the first intermission.

Adam Comrie made it 3-0 for the Sharks at 9:20 of the third, but Warren Peters would get the Penguins on the board 72 seconds later. It took just over a minute for Bracken Kearns to re-establish Worcester's three-goal cushion and extend it to four with two goals over a span of 1:58. Kearns also added two assists for a four-point night.

Friday, March 15: Penguins 5, SHARKS 3

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins bounced back in the rematch against the Sharks, collecting a hard-earned 5-3 win in Worcester.

Leading 1-0 in the second frame, Chad Kolarik and Paul Thompson scored 23 seconds apart to quickly push the Penguins ahead by three. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was up 4-1 in the third period before James Livingston and Jonathan Matsumoto both found the net to shrink that lead to one.

Worcester would have a chance to tie in the closing minutes with a 6-on-3 power play for 35 seconds, but Warren Peters scored into the empty-net with eight seconds left in regulation to secure the win. Brad Thiessen stopped 34-of-37 shots for the Penguins.

Saturday, March 16: Penguins 3, PIRATES 2

For the second consecutive game versus the Pirates, the Penguins rallied from a third-period deficit and registered a 3-2 victory at Cumberland County Civic Center.

Portland jumped out to an early 2-0 edge after Andy Miele scored at 3:24 and Boris Valabik followed a half-minute later. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton started its comeback at 12:36 of the second on a power play tally by defenseman Brian Dumoulin.

Penguins captain Joey Mormina knotted the contest 1:13 into the final period and Trevor Smith provided the game-winner with 10 minutes left in regulation on his 18th goal of the season. Jeff Zatkoff registered his 20th win with 21 saves in the game.

UPCOMING GAMES

Wednesday, March 20, 7:00 PM - Penguins at CRUNCH - 102.3 the Mountain

After beginning the month of March on a four-game winless streak, the Crunch have rebounded with a four-game point streak and lead the entire AHL with a record of 37-17-3-5. This is the final regular season meeting between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Syracuse. The Crunch took a 4-3 lead in the season series with a 3-0 win over the Penguins on Feb. 17.

Saturday, March 23, 7:05 PM: PENGUINS vs. Admirals - 102.3 the Mountain, MyNetworkTV

The Admirals have battled back within striking distance of a playoff spot by going 10-3-2-0 in their last 15 games. Norfolk is 29-27-4-1 and in fifth place in the East Division, but just five points out of the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins are 2-3-1-0 against Norfolk this season. Jeff Zatkoff has a 1-3-0 record versus the Admirals despite a 1.79 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
