NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals today signed forward Bryan Brutlag to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO), Admirals General Manager Julien BriseBois announced. This is Brutlag's second PTO with the Admirals this season.
Brutlag, 5-foot-11, 189-pounds, appeared in three games with the Admirals last weekend, posting a plus-2 rating. He is currently tied for the team lead in scoring with the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators. The pro rookie has appeared in 65 games for the Gladiators this season, posting 20 goals and 46 points with 30 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating. Brutlag is tied for sixth in rookie scoring in the ECHL. He also ranks second in goals and tied for fourth in assists overall with the Gladiators.
Prior to tuning pro with the Gladiators this season, Brutlag appeared in 151 career collegiate games with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I.) Engineers, posting 21 goals and 60 points with 171 penalty minutes. He began his collegiate career as a defenseman before switching to forward full-time prior to his junior season. Brutlag is tied for third all-time in games played in R.P.I. history and missed only three games in his four-year college career.
