Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-The Milwaukee Admirals announced today that defenseman Mike Moore has been selected to serve as the team's captain for the 2012-13 season.
"Mike a great leader who he leads by example. He practices hard, he plays hard and he is a veteran guy who has experience in the NHL," said Admirals Head Coach Dean Evason. "We conducted a vote of the entire team and staff and it was unanimous that he is our leader."
Moore signed with the Nashville in the off-season and, because of the NHL lockout, signed an AHL contract with the Admirals just prior to training camp. He has spent that past four seasons in the San Jose organization, posting 20 points (4g-16a) and 85 penalty minutes in 62 games with the Worcester Sharks in 2011-12. In 254 career AHL games, the Calgary, AB native has 72 points (14g-58a) and 365 penalty minutes and also appeared in six NHL games with the Sharks in 2010-11, notching a goal and seven penalty minutes.
Moore is no stranger to the captaincy as he served in that role for Worcester in 2010-11 and also for Princeton University during his senior season in 2007-08.
In addition Chris Mueller and Mark Van Guilder will serve as alternate captains for the season.
The Admirals kick off the 2012-13 regular season on the road against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday, October 12 before commencing the home portion of the schedule on Friday, October 19th at 7:00 pm at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
