
Amerks Reduce Roster by Five

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has reduced its roster by five players. Defenseman Corey Fienhage has been assigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL), forward Jacob Lagace has been assigned to the Bakersfield Condors (ECHL), and goaltender Nathan Lieuwen has been assigned to the Greenville Road Warriors (ECHL). In addition, goaltender Shane Madolora and forward Jamie Wise have been released.
Fienhage, 22, appeared in 20 games with the Amerks last season, recording four assists and 20 penalty minutes. He also played in 32 games for Gwinnett, where he registered 13 points (5+8) and 28 penalty minutes. Fienhage was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (81st overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Lagace, 22, played in 58 games with the Amerks last season, collecting 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists. In 116 career AHL games with Rochester and Portland, Lagace has registered 43 points (20+23) and 59 penalty minutes. He was selected in the fifth round (134th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Sabres.
Lieuwen, 21, finished the 2011-12 season ranked third among all Western Hockey League goaltenders with a 2.50 goals against average and ranked fifth with a .914 save percentage. In his second season as the starting goaltender for the Kootenay Ice, Lieuwen went 27-20-6-2 with three shutouts. In parts of five WHL seasons with Kootenay, Lieuwen posted a regular season record of 85-59-8-7. He backstopped the Ice to a WHL Championship in 2010-11, earning Playoff MVP honors.
