Admirals Look to Secure Division Crown
April 5, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--The Milwaukee Admirals are just one point away from their fourth Western Division crown in the last eight seasons and earning home-ice in the first round of the playoffs. They have their first shot at earning a point on Wednesday when they host the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 pm at the Bradley Center. If they are unable to earn a point then, they have three more chances this weekend, playing at home Friday and Sunday and in Peoria on Saturday.
Currently, the Ads have a 42-19-6-8 record and 98 points, which is good for first place in the West Division. If the playoffs started today, the Admirals would face Peoria in the first round, but because third through seventh place is separated by just five points their opponent in the first round likely won't be determined before the final couple days of the regular season.
In addition, the Admirals are currently tied for the AHL record for most consecutive road games earning a point with 15, and will have one more opportunity to break that record when they travel to Peoria on Saturday, April 9. The streak began all the way back on January 15 when they defeated Manitoba 3-2 in overtime.
The Admirals have already made history this season with their 2-1 win over San Antonio on March 27, making them the only team in AHL history to earn 40 wins and 90 points in eight consecutive seasons. During these eight season they have accumulated 358 wins and a .586 winning percentage.
The Admirals return to the ice on Wednesday, April 6 versus the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center.
