Admirals Look for 8th Straight Win Wednesday
January 20, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI - After a successful three-game road trip, the Milwaukee Admirals return home on Wednesday night when they host the Utica Comets at 7 pm at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, the first of a three-game homestand.
The Admirals are currently riding a seven-game winning streak and a win would tie a franchise record of eight in a row set during March of 1989. Milwaukee, who started the season with six consecutive wins, hasn't won seven in a row since the 2007-08 campaign.
Win number eight will not be an easy task as Utica comes into the game with the second best points percentage in the American Hockey League (.697) and the Comets will certainly be looking for revenge after the Ads beat them 2-1 last Friday night on goal by Mark Van Guilder with just 34 seconds to play in the game.
Defense has been the key to Milwaukee's current streak as they have allowed just eight goals over the course of those seven games, including a pair of shutouts. AHL All-Star goalie Magnus Hellberg has been in net for each of the past four games and has stopped 107 of 112 shots, a .955 save percentage, while allowing just 1.24 goals per game.
On the offensive side, rookie Viktor Arvidsson has tallied nine points on five goals, including the OT winner on Saturday night, and four assists, while fellow rookie Brendan Leipsic has chipped in with seven assists.
