Syracuse Crunch News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Crunch fans, we want to hear you go WOOOOO! for 21-time World Champion professional wrestler Ric Flair who will make a special appearance at the Syracuse Crunch game on February 7 against the Springfield Falcons. Flair, the most decorated world champion in history, will be available to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

Flair, also known as the "Nature Boy," is one of the most famous and well-known professional wrestlers in the world. Flair was a fan favorite because of his rule-breaking antics, confident strut and, of course, his signature WOOOOO!

Flair is recognized by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) as a 16-time World Champion (WCW), he also had two stints as a Heavyweight Champion, although his actual tally of World Championship reigns varies by source-some totaling as high as 21. Flair also won the 1992 Royal Rumble and the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

In addition to surviving being struck by lightning twice, Flair was among five passengers injured after a plane suffered mechanical failure and crashed down in Wilmington, North Carolina. Doctors insisted that Flair, who had broken his back in three places, would never wrestle again, but that didn't stop him from becoming the in-ring legend he is today.

After playing eight of nine games on the road, Syracuse plays at home Friday against Lehigh Valley and Saturday versus Hartford.

Single game and season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased either in person at the Crunch Box Office located at the War Memorial on 800 South State Street in Syracuse, or by calling the office at (315) 473-4444.
