Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- The Milwaukee Admirals surrendered two goals in each of the first two periods, including two during a five minute major cross-checking penalty, and dropped a 4-1 decision to the Hamilton Bulldogs Thursday night at the Bradley Center.
The first penalty of the game fell on Milwaukee as Ben Guite was assessed a five-minute cross-checking major which resulted in his ejection from the game at 14:24 in the first period. As a result of the ensuing five-minute power play the Bulldogs were able to get on the scoreboard twice, with the first coming as P.K. Subban put one past Admirals netminder Dekanich on an assist by Andre Benoit, and the second when Benoit lit the lamp with 1:35 left in the period.
Hamilton outshot the Admirals 14-5 in the first period and went into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.
The Admirals came into the second period with a renewed sense of energy and quickly capitalized at 4:48 of the second period when James Sixsmith skated into the Bulldogs zone and then dished to Hugh Jessiman, who lifted the puck over the stick side of Hamilton netminder Curtis Sanford. The goal cut the Admirals deficit in half at 2-1.
Despite the Admirals' rallying efforts, Dekanich was left vulnerable as Hamilton heavily screened Milwaukee's net, and the Bulldogs answered at 9:26 on a marker by Frederic St. Denis. Shortly following his first goal, St. Denis would score again; this time unassisted on a slap shot from the slot that soared over Dekanich's left shoulder to seal the fate of the match.
This was the Admirals first game back at home since their three-game road trip this past weekend where they took two of three games with shootout wins against San Antonio and a loss on Tuesday against Texas. The Admirals are working to hold their first place spot in the West Division with a 26-16-1-5 record and 58 points.
The Admirals host the Houston Aeros Friday night at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center in the team's annual FM106/Miller Lite Country Music Night. National Recording Artist Blake Shelton will perform live in concert following the game. Fans can order tickets by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
