July 22, 2011 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release
Spokane, WA-For the second time in four games Trever Adams played hero for the Indians. Spo- kane's first baseman, who also had a walk-off hit in Monday's game, drilled a game-winning single to right in the bottom of the ninth inning that propelled Spokane to a 5-4 victory over Tri-City in front of 5,180 fans at Avista Stadium.
The Indians held a 4-3 lead after eight innings, but it proved to be short lived, as new pitcher Jerad Eickhoff (1-0) surrendered a home run to Leonardo Reyes that knotted the game at four.
Tri-City reliever Rhett Ballard (2-1) struck out the first batter he faced in the bottom of the inning, but the submariner followed his strikeout by plunking Zach Cone and Brett Nicholas. After Cone ad- vanced to third on a failed pick-off attempt, Adams stepped back into the box, took a deep breath, and delivered.
Spokane's Will Lamb continued his rapid development as a starter, holding the Dust Devils score- less over five frames with six strikeouts and just one walk. The talented left-handed lowered his ERA to 1.89 in the process.
The Indians win gives them a one-game lead over Tri-City in the NWL East with four games remain- ing in the first half.
