It wasn't until the bottom of the 7th inning before Eugene managed their first hit of the game as 1B Zach Kometani singled to center off of Canadians reliever RHP Taylor Cole before coming around to score on a base hit from PH Jose Dore cutting the lead to 2-1.
The Canadians took a chance in the bottom of the 9th inning as manager John Schneider chose to stay with reliever RHP Aleson Escalante who gave up a double to Eugene SS Jace Peterson who moved over to third base on an infield single from 1B Zach Kometani with just one out. Schneider eventually called on closer RHP Drew Permison who was able to get Jose Dore to fly out to shallow center and then strike out Dan Killian for the victory.
