July 22, 2004 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Aces News Release
The Aces picked up a rare win tonight, besting New Jersey 4-2 for their first win of the second half. The Aces, down 1-0 in the fifth inning from a New Jersey homerun, courtesy of Kevin Grijak, rallied to score four runs, including a Chad Gambill two-RBI single.
Max Newhill pitched well for the Aces, going seven innings giving up two runs on seven hits, tallying five strikeouts along the way. Angel Miranda pitched the last five outs, allowing just one baserunner en route to his second save of the year. Joel Bennet had a decent outing for the Jackals, striking out seven and walking none in six innings, despite of giving up four runs on nine hits. The win halted the Aces current five-game slide, putting them two games back of Division-Leading Elmira.
