Alaska Aces News Release

Five different Aces scored as the Alaska Aces capped a brilliant home stand with a 5-3 win over the Las Vegas Wranglers at Sullivan Arena on Saturday night. The Aces picked up points for the 11th straight game, and finished their season-long home stand at 10-1-1. The Aces improved to 21-9-2 on the year, and raised their top winning percentage in the Western Conference with the win. The Aces now hit the road for a five-game trip beginning Wednesday in Ontario, CA. Fans can visit the Aces at their Facebook page for more information, or call the Aces at 907.258.ACES.

The Aces scored the opening goal for the first time this week when Mark Isherwood rifled a slap shot through traffic on a power play for his sixth goal of the season. Las Vegas answered with a Ryan Huddy goal at 5:27 to tie the score. Alaska then picked up two goals 90 seconds apart from Kory Falite and Ethan Cox late in the frame to give the Aces a lead they never relinquished.

The Wranglers cut the lead to one goal in the second when Justin Bernhardt scored his first goal of the season at 9:54. Alaska extended the gap back to two at 11:34 when Maxime Tanguay's shot from the right boards deflected off of Las Vegas bodies and into the net to make it 4-2 after two periods.

In the third, the Wranglers again made it a one-goal game when Jamie Bates scored at 7:22. Las Vegas had two late power plays, but could not find the equalizer as the Aces defense held strong down the stretch. Wes Goldie scored his league-best 21st of the year into an empty net at 19:58 to close the scoring.

Gerald Coleman (16-7-1) made 19 saves on 22 shot, extending his winning streak to nine straight. Joe Fallon (7-6-1) took the loss, making 28 saves on 32 shots. The Aces power play went 1-2, while the Wranglers went 0-4. The Aces outshot the Wranglers 33-22 in the game.
