Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-The long ball and a big eighth inning helped launch Reno to their second-straight victory Thursday night, in a 8-3 win over the Salt Lake Bees at Aces Ballpark.
The Bees hit up Reno starter Matt Wright for two runs in the first inning, but a three-run homer off the bat of Juan Rivera in the bottom of the frame gave Reno a 3-2 edge. The home run marked Rivera's ninth of the season, seven of which have been go-ahead shots.
Tyler Bortnick hit his third home run of the season in the next inning to advance Reno's lead to 5-2.
An error by Reno first baseman Mike Jacobs allowed Andy Marte to reach in the seventh and advance to second. Matt Long singled to right to plate Marte, bringing the Bees within two.
Rivera struck again in the eighth with one out and the bases loaded, battling through an at bat to record a two-RBI single off former Aces reliever Daniel Stange. Mike Jacobs singled to plate another run before the Bees could record the final two outs of the inning.
Rivera finished the night 2-for-5 with five RBI and a run scored. Bortnick and Ed Easley each went 3-for-5 for the Aces, with Bortnick scoring three times.
Taylor Harbin recorded his first multi-hit game since Aug. 12, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of runs scored.
Reno reliever Nate Adcock threw 2.0 scoreless frames, allowing just two hits, en route to his seventh win of the season.
The series continues Friday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Mike Bolsinger (5-6, 4.50 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Bees will counter with LHP Dontrelle Willis (1-0, 1.50 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. for another Saint Mary's Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4, with postgame fireworks.
The Aces will also try to break the record for most people high-fiving one another to help celebrate five big years at Aces Ballpark. A limited number of $5 general admission tickets are still available.
