Aces' Rally Not Enough in 7-6 Loss

TACOMA, Wash.-A five-run rally in the top of the seventh inning was not enough for the Reno Aces, as the club fell 7-6 to the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium on Friday night.

Rainiers LHP James Paxton did not give up a hit to Reno until the fifth inning, when Taylor Harbin singled to right field with two outs to break up the no-hit bid.

The Aces bats came alive in the seventh, as the club posted five runs to come within one, down 7-6. Reno had the tying run on second with two outs in the ninth, but Kila Ka'aihue struck out to end the game.

At the dish for Reno, Harbin went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Chris Owings' hot streak continued, as the 21-year-old added two hits to his Pacific Coast League-leading total (46). D-backs outfielder Adam Eaton went 1-for-5 with a run scored and three strikeouts in the first game of his Major League Rehabilitation Assignment with the Aces.

Reno RHP Chase Anderson was charged with his second-straight loss. He gave up seven runs-six earned-on ten hits, while striking out five. LHP Eury De La Rosa and RHP Matt Gorgen combined to throw 2.2 shutout innings, allowing just one hit, to close out the game.

Paxton was excellent in his start, allowing just one earned run on two hits through 5.0 innings to earn the win. He struck out nine Aces batters in the outing. Reliever Danny Farquhar, who threw .2 shutout innings to end the game, was credited with his fourth save of the season.

The series continues Saturday night at Cheney Stadium. RHP Charles Brewer (1-2, 5.06 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Tacoma will counter with RHP Blake Beavan (0-0, No ERA). First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
