Tucson Padres News Release

The Tacoma Rainiers hit four home runs to account for all of their scoring in an 8-0 win over the Tucson Padres Thursday. The Rainiers swept the Padres, the first time Tucson was swept this season.

After three scoreless innings to start the game, Alex Liddi's solo home run in the fourth put the Rainiers ahead. Carlos Triunfel hit the second home run of the frame, a three-run shot over the left field wall to extend Tacoma's lead to 4-0. Padres starter Sean O'Sullivan had allowed only one home run in 30 innings this season before surrendering two in the fourth inning on Thursday. Rich Poythress' solo home run with two outs in the sixth and Eric Thames's three-run shot in the seventh gave Tacoma an eight-run cushion.

Jeremy Bonderman tossed eight shutout innings for Tacoma to earn his second win of the season. The Rainiers starter allowed only three Padres to reach base, two on hits and one on a walk. O'Sullivan was charged with his second loss for Tucson despite striking out 11 batters to set a Tucson Padres single-game record.
