Bakersfield Condors News Release
ANCHORAGE - The Alaska Aces (23-21-2-2, 50 points) rallied late and prevailed in overtime 5-4 over the Bakersfield Condors (26-15-3-1, 56 points) Saturday night at Sullivan Arena. Alaska scored four of their five goals on the power play, including the game winner.
Bakersfield surrendered the first goal of the game, when LW Judd Blackwater's redirection on the power play snuck home to make it 1-0, 1:20 into the game. Midway through the period, however, the Condors jumped in front. F Andrew Ianiero punched in a power play goal at 7:32 and C Maxime Macenauer added his 4th of the year at 10:31 for their first lead of the series. With 1:33 left in the period the Aces tied it up when D Nick Tuzzolinio blasted home a power play marker.
The Alaska power play improved to 3-for-3 on the night with Blackwater's rebound goal 5:10 into the second period. But again Bakersfield responded. Former Aces C Gino Guyer tied it up 3-3 at 13:33. Just moments later D Chris Allen sent a rocket past Aces G Frank Doyle for his first of the year to regain the Condors lead.
The Condors held the lead until late in the third. Blackwater picked up the hat trick, hammering the equalizer past G Timo Pielmeier with just 1:03 remaining and the Aces net empty for the extra attacker. Bakersfield led in shots 34-24 through regulation.
In overtime, Bakersfield put the Aces on the power play, and for the fourth time in the game they connected. F Brock McBride capped off the scoring with his fourth of the season at 2:13 to end the night.
