Reno Aces News Release

First pitch from Greater Nevada Field is slated for 6:05 p.m. PT.

One More Heartache:

- Reno dropped its third-straight game to the Sacramento River Cats with its 7-5 loss on Friday.

- Alek Thomas unloaded a season-high four hits and smacked his first career Triple-A home run. The No. 4-rated prospect, according to MLB.com, also drove in a trio of runs and scored one tally.

- Ildemaro Vargas jumped out to a three-game hitting streak with an RBI double down the left-field line in the eighth.

- Stefan Crichton tossed two near-perfect innings out of the bullpen, surrendering just one walk and striking out a pair of batters. The right-hander has tossed back-to-back outings with just one baserunner allowed.

- Entering tonight's game, the Aces are 10 hits away from reaching the 1,000-hit plateau.

- Andrew Young was recalled to Arizona and former Aces catcher Bryan Holaday was released prior to the Diamondbacks' game this morning.

I Like it Like That:

- Henry Ramos has been on fire since July 1, boasting a .401/.465/.686 slash line while going 55-for-137 at the dish in 38 games. Following a stellar July that saw the veteran outfielder boast a .411 batting average with a team-high 30 hits, 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored, Ramos continues to slug in August. In his 18 appearances in August, the 29-year-old is hitting .382/.427/.735 with nine doubles, five home runs, 15 RBIs and 18 runs scored. Ramos leads Triple-A with his .364 batting average and has not dipped under .300 since June 12.

- Since the start of August, Ildemaro Vargas is slashing .384/.457/.571 with 27 hits, seven doubles and two home runs to go with 16 tallies and 11 RBIs. Vargas is just eight base knocks away from becoming the first player in franchise history to reach the 500-hit plateau. The Aces' infielder is also 19 runs away from breaking Cole Gillespie's record of 272.

- Seth Beer has also been swinging a hot bat in August, going 24-for-74 (.324) at the dish with four home runs, five doubles, 16 RBIs and eight runs scored. With his recent stretch of success at the dish, the Aces' first baseman ranks second in Triple-A West in extra-base hits (45) and doubles (30)while sitting in third with 64 runs scored.

- Brandyn Sittinger has been a solid option for skipper Blake Lalli out of the bullpen since the start of July. In 16 appearances since July 1, the right-hander boasts a 1.10 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 16.1 innings of work. The Aces' reliever has allowed two runs on eight hits while compiling six holds and four saves. Sittinger has not surrendered a run in 10.1 innings of work.

- Jake McCarthy had his contract selected prior to yesterday's game and was swinging a hot bat with the Aces. The outfielder bumped his batting average from .128 to .262 since July 4. The D-Backs' prospect also took sole possession of first place in Triple-A with seven triples.

You've Really Got a Hold on Me:

- Sacramento has lost six of its last 10 games and sits 15.5 games behind Reno.

- Ramos squared off against his brother, No. 4-rated Giants' prospect Heliot, for the second time this season. Through seven meetings, Henry has rattled off four RBIs and five runs scored with his 10-for-25 showing (.400), including a home run over his brother's head in left on July 29. Heliot has put forth a 9-for-24 performance (.375) with seven RBIs and three runs scored.

- Matt Tabor will make his fourth Triple-A start since being called up on July 31. The right-hander is still trying to find his footing in Minor League Baseball's highest level, boasting a 1-2 record through his three starting nods. Tabor picked up his first win in Triple-A on Aug. 13 against El Paso.

- Matt Shoemaker will make his 11th career appearance against the Aces when he toes the slab on Saturday. The veteran right-hander holds a 4-1 record while allowing 35 earned runs on 64 hits with 47 strikeouts in 58.0 innings of work. In his last start against Reno, Shoemaker tossed six innings of one-run ball, giving up just six hits and striking out eight batters on May 6, 2016.

You Beat Me to the Punch:

- Reno leads all of professional baseball with a .290 batting average and ranking second with990 hits fifth with 672 runs scored. The Biggest Little City's squad is also tied or out-hitting the Chicago Cubs (988) Texas Rangers (976), New York Mets (967) and Seattle Mariners (957) in nearly 30 fewer games. Should Reno record 10 hits tonight, it will match the 2017 team's fourth-quickest mark (98 contests) to 1,000 hits, trailing just the 2011 club (91), the 2012 team (92) and the 2014 squad (95).

- The Aces are one of six teams to reach the 200-run plateau in the seventh inning or later, tallying 243 ticks. Reno also leads Triple-A with a .311 batting average, 339 hits, 51 home runs and 12 triples after the sixth frame.

- With its Minor League-leading 243 tallies and .311 batting average in the seventh inning or later, the Biggest Little City's team has two runs than Carolina with 241 and 31 more points than second-best Quad City with a .280 mark.

- The Biggest Little City's team has mounted 19 comebacks this season, boasting a 13-6 record in games it erases a deficit of three or more runs to tie the game.
