BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Erik Fabian and Ryan Turek scored 29 seconds apart in the third period, breaking a 2-2 tie and pushing Alaska to a 5-2 win over Bakersfield before 4,373 Tuesday at Rabobank Arena.

The Aces (32-20-3) have won back-to-back road games for the first time in six weeks, and now return to Sullivan Arena for a nine-game homestand, having accumulated the best record on home ice in the ECHL to this point at 20-6-1. Alaska also gained a split of the season series with the Condors (4-4) and moved to within one point of the West Division lead, with two games still in hand on the first-place Victoria Salmon Kings.

As was the case in Sunday's 6-3 win at Ontario, the Aces never trailed, taking a 1-0 lead when Matt Shasby ripped a one-timer past Bakersfield goalie Dave McKee on a power play with 3:52 left in the first period. Chris Kaufman drew the Condors even with a wrist shot from between the circles at 8:40 of the second period, but Scott Burt answered with Alaska's second power play goal of the contest, another one-timer from the right circle at the 11:50 mark.

Trailing 2-1 after two periods, Bakersfield again forged a tie when Bruce Graham blasted a slap shot past Aces starter Kevin Nastiuk 1:52 into the final stanza. The score remained deadlocked 2-2 until the Condors went on the power play with a chance to take their first lead, only to see Shasby feed Fabian off the rush for the eventual game-winner with 7:51 left in regulation. Shortly thereafter, Turek launched another rocket past McKee (winless in six career appearances against Alaska, including 0-4 this year) to give the vistors a 4-2 bulge. Vladimir Novak's empty-netter, assisted by Burt, accounted for the final margin.

The Aces open their homestand Friday at 7:15 p.m. and Sunday at 5:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies, who were shut out by Idaho 6-0 on Tuesday. Alaska has not faced Utah since sweeping a three-game series in Anchorage in mid-November. Both games will be broadcast live on KFQD AM 750, with Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening puck drop.
