Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Aberdeen, MD â The Aberdeen IronBirds today announced that a new reality television show, "Inside the IronBirds", will air regionally with nine episodes featuring the NY-Penn League Class A team during its second season. The program will air during the summer each Saturday from 11:00 to 11:30 am on Comcast SportsNet beginning July 5.
The program will feature a behind the scenes look at the IronBirds, as the young ballplayers get their first taste of professional baseball. Kevin Kiley of Comcast SportsNet will serve as the show's host and narrator.
It will be produced by Kell Communications which currently produces two programs for the University of Maryland, "The Gary Williams Show" and "The Ralph Friedgen Show". In addition, Kell Communications produces "The Greene Turtle Sports Show", an interview program featuring local and national sports celebrities. Rich Daniel will serve as the program's Producer/Director. Daniel was previously an Executive Producer at WJLA TV in Washington, DC for twenty years.
IronBirds owner Cal Ripken, Jr. said, "This is a great opportunity for the IronBirds as it provides and outstanding showcase for our ballpark and complex to the entire Mid-Atlantic region. My hope is that it gives an accurate look at all that a young ballplayer goes through in the pursuit of his ultimate goal of playing in the big leagues. The thing that makes this show so unique is that it is not a studio show but a documentary style program that gives fans a real look into minor league baseball."
