Worcester Tornadoes News Release

WORCESTER, MA--- It took a gutsy performance from Ryan Lobban (1-0) in game one against the New Jersey Jackals for the Tornadoes to overcome an early deficit and get the victory 7-3.

Lobban dispensed sixty-six pitches in his first two innings and allowed a pair of runs against a New Jersey team that was on him early. However, over the next five-shutout innings he needed the same amount of pitches to slow the Jersey lineup to a halt. The only other run they would score would come in the eighth against Eddie Pena.

The Tornadoes had not scored seven or more runs and won a game since the twelfth of August; tonight they hit lucky number seven with the help of a pair of solo homeruns against AJ Wideman (0-1) who only allowed five all regular season. Lucas Taylor and Yohanny Valera both recorded triples and runs scored for Worcester. Anthony Sullivan got the side in the ninth to nail down the victory.

With a 1-0 series lead, the Tornadoes send Chris Farley (0-0) to the bump for game two against lefty Isaac Pavlik (0-0). First pitch is at 7:05pm, tickets available at www.worcestertornadoes.com.
